Knutsford's best cafés & coffee shops
Guest blog post by Liz Boardman Copywriting
If your idea of a day out always involves coffee and cake, then you’ve come to the right town. As well as many unique, historic attractions, Knutsford is famed for its independent eateries, and is the perfect place for a cake crawl. In fact, I'd argue Knutsford has some of the best cafés and coffee shops on the planet.
The Tea Room
I’d heartily recommend The Tea Room if you like to keep your treats traditional but with a modern twist
With the most amazing selection of homemade cakes, fine loose-leaf teas and piping hot coffee in mismatched mugs, you’ll be spoilt for choice. When the weather’s nice, take a pew outside and soak up the sight of the iconic Gaskell Tower while you enjoy a sumptuous afternoon tea.
The Tea Room is part of the Chatty Café Scheme, so you don’t need to worry about being on your own and dogs are welcome too – there’s even a dog menu and a cute pawtrait board!

April's Kitchen
For coffee with an Instagrammable backdrop, try April’s Kitchen on Regent Street. It’s full of gorgeous colour-popping, pink booths and stunning wall art, and will look great on your grid.
But back to the coffee – it’s served on little trays with a glass of water and an individually wrapped chocolate, and if that tempts your tastebuds into action, there’s always a lovely selection of cakes, including giant chocolate cookies.
For those that prefer their coffee with a kick, April’s serve a great range of cocktails too, including a rather impressive Espresso Martini. Perfect for moving from day to night.
Tatton Perk
If speciality coffee is your thing, then head down towards the Moor Park where you’ll find Tatton Perk – a small, locally-owned coffee shop with a striking stag logo.
Popular with cyclists and dog walkers, it’s run by a true coffee aficionado and is known for its amazing coffee, quirky décor, views of the Moor and V60 pour-overs.
There’s always something new to try – right now charcoal, turmeric, matcha and butterfly pea lattes are having a moment in the spotlight, and they’re so pretty – you have to try one. And if you fancy a coffee-glazed cinnamon bun with your brew, then don’t dally, they sell out most days!

Cranford Café and Sandwich Bar
A real Knutsford institution, you’ll always get a warm welcome and a decent cuppa at Cranford Café. They’ve got a huge selection of cakes to eat in or takeaway and if you love a traybake, you might want to make sure you’ve got room for two!
Balance out sweet with savoury, by checking out the sandwich bar or treat yourself to an all-day breakfast – they’re pretty famous in these parts!
Out walking with the dogs? No problem, Cranford welcomes pooches too and always has water and treats at the ready.
Detaljer
So much more than a coffee shop, Detaljer is a Scandinavian lifestyle store and café. With cool, Scandi vibes, an emphasis on sustainability, and a strong sense of community, it’s a buzzing Knutsford hub.
The coffee’s great (if you like mixing up your flavours, try a matcha, turmeric or beetroot blend) and there’s always a full counter of delicious pastries and cakes, with lots of vegan options too.
They have a gorgeous range of Scandi-inspired gifts, cards and homeware to browse while you sip, and they’ll also wrap them for free. Well worth a visit if you need a present and a caffeine fix while you’re in town!
Café on the Corner
Bring a little sunshine to your day with brunches and lunches that combine the very best of British and Turkish cuisine.
Café on the Corner does a lovely, strong coffee, there’s always a delicious selection of cakes to choose from, and if it’s a sunny day, then you can take it outside to the terrace and enjoy a spot of alfresco dining.
Looking for a family-run café, where the food’s made with love and there’s a good buzz? Then this is definitely one for your list.
Neki Café
Tucked away at the far end of King Street, close to Knutsford train station, is Neki – an independent, family-run, artisan café with an extremely loyal customer base.
With seriously good coffee, a welcoming atmosphere and amazing latte art, it’s a stylish café that’s won awards for its window displays.
Cake is always on the menu (the vegan carrot cake is a firm favourite) and the brunches are brilliant too if you fancy something more substantial with your brew.

The Courtyard Coffee House
One of Knutsford's hidden gems, the Courtyard Coffee House is tucked away behind King Street in a quiet corner of the town.
As soon as you walk in, you'll spot (and smell) the homemade cakes, which are very much front and centre, but it's not all sweet temptation, they do lovely lunches and brunches too.
Enjoy views of the cobbled courtyard from the comfort of the conservatory, or when the weather's warm, grab a table outside and soak up a few rays.
